Neighray connects you with the people around you. These guidelines keep it friendly and safe. They apply everywhere in the app: your profile and handle, rooms, direct messages, the Feed, the Market, business profiles and reviews. They are part of our Terms of Service.
Be a good neighbour
- Treat people the way you'd treat them face to face, on your street.
- Disagree without insults. Keep rooms on topic, and let others talk.
- If something goes wrong, report it. Don't fight it out in public.
Not allowed
Harassment and hate
- Bullying, insults, threats, intimidation or repeated unwanted messages.
- Hate or discrimination based on religion, sect, ethnicity, nationality, caste, gender, disability or any similar trait.
- Encouraging anyone to harm themselves or others.
Sexual content, and anything involving children
- Nudity, sexual content or sexual messages, and offering or asking for sexual services.
- Anything that sexualises, exploits or endangers children: zero tolerance. We remove it, permanently ban the account and report it to the authorities. See our Child Safety Standards.
Violence and danger
- Threats, glorifying violence or terrorism, or graphic violent content.
- Organising fights or anything that puts people in danger.
Privacy
- Don't reveal anyone's identity, address, phone number, workplace or exact location, or try to find out who is behind a handle.
- Don't share screenshots of private chats to embarrass or target someone.
- Don't photograph or record people and post it without their consent.
Scams, spam and fakes
- Fraud, scams, fake giveaways, pyramid schemes or asking for money in advance.
- Spam, repeated advertising in rooms or chats, or links to malicious sites.
- Pretending to be someone else, a business or Neighray. Fake verification.
- Multiple accounts, or coming back after a ban.
- Faking your location (GPS spoofing).
Illegal activity
- Anything illegal in Pakistan, or planning or encouraging it.
Market rules
- Sell only things you own and have the right to sell, described honestly, with real photos and the real price (or "Free").
- One listing per item; mark it sold when it's gone.
- Not allowed for sale or swap:
- weapons, ammunition, explosives and replicas;
- drugs, and medicines that need a prescription;
- alcohol, tobacco and vapes;
- stolen goods, fakes and counterfeits;
- recalled or unsafe products;
- live animals;
- adult products and services;
- personal documents, SIM cards and accounts (bank, social media or game accounts);
- hacked software, and anything else illegal.
- Meet safely: meet in a public place in daylight, check the item before paying, and never pay in advance to someone you haven't met.
Businesses and reviews
- Business profiles must be accurate: real name, location, hours, menu and prices.
- Reviews must be honest, and about your own experience. Don't post fake reviews, pay for reviews, or review your own business or a competitor's.
Rooms
- Room names and topics follow the same rules as everything else.
- Pop-up rooms are temporary and public: anyone nearby can join and read them.
Reporting and blocking
- Report any message, room, person, listing or business from its menu (⋮ or the flag). Reports are anonymous: the person isn't told who reported them.
- When you report a room or a chat, we keep a copy of the last 30 messages so our team can review it, even after the messages disappear.
- Block anyone to stop seeing their messages and posts. They aren't told.
- If someone is in immediate danger, contact the police (15) or emergency services (1122) first.
What happens when rules are broken
Depending on how serious it is, we may:
- remove the content;
- send a warning;
- suspend the account;
- permanently ban the account.
Serious harm, anything involving children, and credible threats lead to a permanent ban straight away, and we may report them to the authorities. We aim to act on reports within 24 hours.
